ZatPat Ride: Food Delivery App
Development Case Study

About The Client
ZatPat Ride is a food delivery brand in Chembur, Mumbai, founded by Pramod Kenjale. Customers order from nearby restaurants through the app and a local rider brings the food to their door. Pramod came to Comfygen with the business model but no product. He needed one team to build the customer app, the restaurant panel, the delivery partner app and the admin system so all four worked as one platform.

Overview
Comfygen built ZatPat Ride as a food delivery platform for Android and iOS. It has four parts: the customer app for ordering, the restaurant panel for order handling, the delivery partner app for riders and the admin panel for the head office. One backend runs all of them, so an order moves from the customer to the restaurant to the rider with the same status showing on every side. Work began on 5 May 2026 and the platform went live on 22 August 2026. Both apps are live on Google Play and the App Store.

Key Features
- Restaurant onboarding: Partners sign up, submit documents and get approved before going live.
- Chain and outlet management: One brand runs several outlets, each with its own menu, hours and delivery area.
- Menu and stock management: Restaurants update prices and mark items out of stock in real time.
- Maps and restaurant discovery: Google Maps handles addresses and delivery charges. Customers see only outlets that deliver to them.
- Payments and wallet: UPI, card, wallet and cash on delivery, with refunds and cashback.
- Real-time order tracking: Live order status and rider location, with push notifications.
- Rider management: Aadhaar and driving licence checks, order assignment, earnings and incentives.
- Admin panel: Commission rules, settlements, service zones, offers and reports.

Challenge
- Handling restaurant chains with more than one outlet, where each outlet has its own menu, hours and service area.
- Showing customers only the restaurants that can actually deliver to their address.
- Keeping the customer app, restaurant panel and rider app on the same order status at the same time.
- Verifying delivery partners before they take a first order, using Aadhaar and driving licence checks.
- Keeping money flows correct across UPI, cards, wallet, cash on delivery, refunds and cashback.
- Holding app speed at lunch and dinner peaks, when most food orders come in.

Solution
Comfygen built one backend with four connected parts on top of it: the customer app, the restaurant panel, the delivery partner app and the admin panel. Every order moves through the same steps: placed, accepted, prepared, picked up, delivered. Each step updates all three sides in real time through APIs.
Google Maps API sets addresses, distances and delivery charges. Service zones decide which restaurants a customer sees. The backend runs on Node.js, Express, MongoDB and Redis. Redis caching keeps menu screens quick at lunch and dinner peaks. Rider checks use the UIDAI Aadhaar APIs and a driving licence verification API.

Project Timeline
Work started on 5 May 2026. The platform launched on 22 August 2026. From kickoff to launch, the build took about 3.5 months.

Business Benefits
- Customer ordering, restaurant fulfilment and rider delivery run on one system instead of separate tools.
- Restaurant chains can be added as a group instead of as separate accounts.
- Rider verification happens inside the app, so onboarding needs less manual paperwork.
- Commission and payout rules are set per partner, and settlements are tracked in the admin panel.
- Service zones are managed from the admin panel, so the client can add a new delivery area from the dashboard.
- Addresses and delivery charges come from map data, which helps avoid wrong-address errors.
- Customers can check order progress in the app instead of calling for updates.
- Wallet, coupons and cashback give the client tools to bring customers back.
